The 2025 edition of the European Climate and Energy Modelling Platform (ECEMP) brought together hundreds of researchers, policymakers, and practitioners in Brussels and online to explore one of the most pressing challenges of our time: turning Europe’s energy transition goals into actionable implementation.
This year’s theme — “European Energy Transition and Society: Moving Towards Implementation” — reflected a growing consensus across the modelling community that Europe’s climate ambitions will only be met through deeper collaboration between quantitative modelling, social sciences, and real-world policy design.
Collaboration at the Heart of ECEMP
Organized by a coalition of EU-funded Horizon Europe projects, European Commission DGs, and partner institutions, ECEMP 2025 reaffirmed its role as a central meeting point for Europe’s energy and climate modelling community. The event demonstrated how collaborative modelling and interdisciplinary dialogue can directly support European policymaking at this critical juncture on the path to climate neutrality by 2050.
The ECEMP Organizing Committee — Jakob Rager, Zoi Vrontisi, Davide Natalini, and Johannes Emmerling — thank all participants for their active engagement and contributions to advancing the scientific and societal dimensions of Europe’s clean energy future.
Participation certificates will be sent out.
